Chapter Philanthropy
Kappa Kappa Gamma has a 1-2-3-philanthropy system. The first branch is the Kappa Family, which is represented by the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) that focuses on educational programs, scholarship, financial aid and preserving Kappa’s heritage. The second branch is the local community. Each chapter gets to choose what local community organization they would like to support. Zeta Kappa supports Kappa Kidney Camp. This is a weeklong camp for children ages 8 to 18 that have had a kidney transplant or on dialysis. The camp is fully staffed with expert medical care. The best part is that they have a Kappa day where ladies from the chapters that support the camp get to visit and play with the kids for the day. The third branch is the national philanthropy; Mental Health and Well-Being. Our chapter is partnered with the JED Foundation to raise awareness for young adults. The JED Foundation is a nonprofit organization that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for our nation's teens and young adults, giving them the skills and support they need to thrive today and tomorrow.
Zeta Kappa works hard throughout the school year to fundraise and support their three philanthropies. In the fall, we host Kappa Kappa Grilled Cheese where we sell grilled cheese and tomato soup downtown at night. We also have Kappa Cotton Candy where we sell cotton candy at the union oval! During the spring semester, we hold Kappaccinos on the education steps during President’s Day. This is a great event as we get to talk to families and future students about BGSU and going Greek. Our last event of the year is Kappa Kickball. We host a kickball event at the end of the year where members of all 4 councils of Fraternity and Sorority Life get to play.
